Hello Liz.
I read enough about the 14 amendment debate to understand that some folks are proposing that we no longer automatically grant citizenship to children born in the United States of foreign non-citizens.
It is not clear to me which side of this issue would be pro, and which side of this issue would be con.
Also, I don't have any coherent arguments organized for my opinion.
Personally, my vote would be to keep the interpretation the way it is, and continue to automatically grant citizenship to children born in the United States, without regard to the citizenship status of their parents.
In fact, I will be even more extreme, and say I would be in favor of an immigration law which automatically granted citizenship to anyone who resided in the United States for 6 months.
