In 2011, the Florida Legislature voted into law [HB 1355|http://www.flsenate.gov/Committees/BillSummaries/2011/html/1355EE], a sweeping set of election reforms aimed partially at preventing election fraud. Among the controversial aspects of the law are provisions regulating third party registration drives by creating substantial fines and penalties in the event the parties fail to comply with its complex requirements.  The League of Women Voters of Florida has found these new requirements so "onerous" they have ended registration drives.  Additionally, the law shortens the time for early voting from 14 to 8 days, and ends the ability of voters to correct their out-of-county address at the polls, likely heavily affecting students.

Join us for *Your Vote in the State of Florida*, Thursday, March 29, 2012, 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Challenger Learning Center to understand the ramifications changes in Florida's election law might have on you, learn the latest as the case moves through the court system and understand the results of the constitutionally-mandated 2012 reapportionment process. The  League of Women Voters of Florida will be present to outline the issues and we'll also have an advocate for the original changes in the law that the League is fighting.

The program will feature a social element with a wine tasting and an opportunity to discuss the topic in small groups.

Cost $10

Location: Challenger Learning Center
