h3. {color:#3366ff}JOIN US FOR A REAL CONVERSATION{color} {color:#cb3446}ABOUT WHO'S SPEAKING FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE{color}

*82% of eligible California voters didn't voice their opinion regarding schools, police, library funding and civic leadership in the 2014 primary. *

The right to vote is one of the most important rights granted to American citizens, yet voter turnout continues to be low. In the 2014 primary election 82% of eligible California voters didn't voice their opinion regarding schools, police, library funding and civic leadership. In an age where people “vote” all the time on Yelp, Facebook and other venues, why is there such a low interest in the electoral process? With such a small percentage of our population selecting our decision makers, have we lost our representative democracy and the voice of the American people?

The _Village Square Sacramento_ "Dinner at the Square” will bring 150 community members together to talk about why too many of us _just aren't that into_ democracy and what we might do about it. The forum will be a casual and friendly conversation. We seek to be the best civil and respectful conversation of substance going, and plan to have fun while we do it.

The _Village Square Sacramento_ intends to rebuild a modern-day village square and rekindle what it means to be engaged in policy matters that affect our lives and our wider community. We intend to show how dialogue (vs. debate) and disagreement can be held on deeply politicized issues -- while staying civil and getting to answers that work. It's based on proven model built in Florida over seven years that has received national attention and a growing list of converts from around the country. Read about the Village Square in the Christian Science Monitor [here|http://www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/Common-Ground/2014/0611/Civil-discourse-that-doesn-t-taste-like-broccoli].

We hope you’ll join us\!
